Ranchi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for eight districts of Jharkhand for July 24, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds as monsoon activity intensifies across the state.
According to the IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, Latehar, West Singhbhum, and East Singhbhum are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and wind speeds of 30–40 kmph at isolated places.
The weather department has advised residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall. People have also been urged to take precautions against lightning by staying indoors during thunderstorms.
State authorities have asked district administrations to stay prepared for possible waterlogging, localized flooding, and disruptions to road transport, while emergency response teams have been kept on standby to deal with any weather-related incidents.
The IMD has stated that the active monsoon conditions are expected to persist over Jharkhand for the next few days, with intermittent spells of rain likely across several parts of the state.
