New Delhi. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were briefly detained by Delhi Police on Tuesday after leading a protest march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence over the alleged NEET paper leak, police action against student protesters, and demands for education reforms.
The Congress demonstration, led by Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, sought the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging the government had failed to address examination irregularities and concerns raised by students. Protesters attempted to march towards Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Minister’s official residence, despite police restrictions.
Delhi Police stopped the march, detained several opposition leaders, and shifted them to nearby police stations. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and other senior leaders were released after a few hours. During the protest, the opposition also condemned the police action against students demonstrating over the NEET controversy and demanded a discussion on the issue in Parliament.
