Hajipur. A shocking and major incident has come to light from the Vaishali district. Flouting police patrols and security claims, brazen thieves have executed a major heist. Instead of targeting a shop or a house, the thieves struck directly at a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM, uprooting the entire machine and making off with it.
The incident occurred in the Bidupur police station area of the district. Thieves targeted the SBI ATM located on the main road of the bustling Chak Sikandar market. The criminals arrived late at night, uprooted the entire ATM machine and took it away. It is reported that the ATM contained lakhs of rupees in cash. After committing the crime, the thieves extracted the money and fled after dumping the empty ATM in a secluded area within the Sarai police station’s jurisdiction.
Panic ensued in the area when locals spotted the abandoned ATM machine in a desolate spot known as ‘Sarai ka Chaud’ in the morning. The police were immediately informed. Recognizing the gravity of the incident, the police administration swung into action. A special police team and an SIT (Special Investigation Team) have been constituted to solve the case and apprehend the thieves.
This incident has once again raised serious questions regarding bank security and police patrolling.Currently, the SIT is scrutinizing CCTV footage and working to find clues leading to the criminals.
