Patna. On the occasion of International Plastic Bag Free Day, Bihar Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar urged people to reduce their use of plastic bags and become conscious of environmental conservation. Prem Kumar stated that plastic bags pose a serious threat to the environment. Since they generally cannot be decomposed or recycled, they continue to pollute the environment for a long time. He noted that plastic pollution has become a man-made global problem, adversely affecting the environment, biodiversity, and human health. He explained that the objective of International Plastic Bag Free Day is to raise social awareness against the use of plastic bags and promote environmental conservation. This day encourages people to be mindful of plastic pollution and motivates them to reduce their usage. He appealed to people to use cloth, jute or other eco-friendly bags in their daily lives and to shun single-use plastics. If everyone makes small efforts, plastic pollution can be significantly reduced, ensuring a clean and safe environment for future generations.
