Baruipur (West Bengal). A shocking crime has shaken Baruipur in West Bengal. An 11-year-old girl was raped and killed, and her body was found in a pond. Doctors said she was alive when she was thrown into the water, and she had been badly hurt before that.
Police have arrested three men — Pravash Mondol, Dibakar Sardar, and Ananda Sardar — for the crime. They are now looking for a fourth person who is still missing. Police think one of the accused, Ananda, worked with the girl’s family as a van driver, and she may have gone with the men because she trusted his name. Police are also checking if this could be linked to child trafficking.
After the crime, angry villagers got very upset. They damaged police vehicles and beat a 26-year-old man named Indrajit Mondol to death, believing he was involved. They also damaged the house of a local BJP leader, saying he helped the accused escape.
The political leader Suvendu Adhikari has promised that the family will get justice and said he wants the strictest punishment — even the death penalty — for the real culprits. He also said the mob killing had some “communal” reasons behind it, and that action will be taken against those who damaged property and hurt police officers too.
Right now, the police have put strict rules in Baruipur and nearby areas to keep peace while they continue investigating.
