    Gayaji. Another significant step has been taken towards the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 at Magadh University, Bodh Gaya. On Friday, an emergency meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Directorate of Distance Education under the chairmanship of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dilip Kumar Keshari. During the meeting, the new curricula for the first year (Semesters 1 and 2) of two-year postgraduate courses across 22 subjects were unanimously approved. With this decision, the total number of subjects at the university with postgraduate curricula aligned with NEP-2020 has risen to 46. It was stated during the meeting that the curricula for these 22 subjects had been sent to all state universities following review and recommendation by subject experts, as per a letter issued by the Chancellor’s Secretariat (Bihar Lok Bhavan, Patna) on July 6, 2026.

    Instructions had also been given to obtain approval from the relevant statutory bodies and submit an ‘Action Taken Report’ by July 13, 2026. Magadh University has duly approved the curricula, completing the process ahead of the stipulated deadline. The university administration will soon submit a report regarding this to the Chancellor’s Secretariat.

    The subjects for which the Academic Council approved postgraduate curricula include Geography, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PMIR), Biochemistry, Buddhist Studies, Ancient History/Culture and Archaeology, Botany, Statistics, Ambedkar Thought, Angika, Urdu, Political Science, Bangla, Home Science, Sanskrit, Arabic, Electronic Science, Pali, Education, Gandhian Thought, Prakrit, Rural Economics, and Rural Studies.

    The proceedings of the Academic Council meeting held on July 2, 2026, were also ratified during the meeting. Additionally, approval was granted for the uniform PhD ordinances and regulations (2026) for universities in Bihar, as well as the draft ordinances and regulations for two-year (four-semester) and one-year (two-semester) postgraduate courses aligned with NEP-2020. The meeting was attended by Registrar Dr. B.K. Mangalam (Member Secretary), CCDC Prof. Sanjay Kumar Tiwari, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. S.N.P. Yadav, Dean of Student Welfare Prof. P.K. Chaudhary, Gaya College Principal Prof. Satish Singh Chandra, and Daudnagar College Principal Prof. Shamsul Islam, along with deans of various faculties, heads of postgraduate departments, college principals, and other members of the Academic Council.
