Patna. Train services on the busy Gaya–Patna rail section were badly disrupted early Thursday after thieves cut and tried to steal 100 metres of live 25,000-volt overhead electrical (OHE) wire. The incident took place at around 3:05 AM between Tehta and Jehanabad railway stations.

As soon as the high-voltage wire was cut, it caused an automatic power trip, immediately alerting the Danapur Railway Division control room. When Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel reached the spot, the thieves fled in panic, leaving the heavy copper cable in a nearby pit. The security team recovered the entire bundle.

To keep train services running, railway authorities operated down trains on the up line through a temporary single-track arrangement. Engineers and technical staff carried out the repair work quickly under tight security and restored the damaged line by 6:26 AM. Normal double-track operations resumed after a three-hour disruption that affected thousands of early-morning passengers.
