Gayaji. Dr. Prem Kumar, Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, joined the Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Samrat Chaudhary, via video conferencing today for the inauguration ceremony of the redeveloped Gandhi Maidan Park in Gaya-ji, completed at a cost of ₹4.31 crore. Former Minister Rana Randhir Singh, administrative officials and a large number of local citizens were present on the occasion.
Dr. Prem Kumar stated that the redevelopment of Gandhi Maidan Park is a significant step towards the beautification and tourism development of Gaya city. The project has introduced modern amenities to the park, including the construction of walking paths, gazebos, restrooms and other basic infrastructure. This will provide local citizens with a superior public space and offer an attractive environment for tourists visiting from across the country and abroad.
He noted that the state government is continuously working to develop Gaya into a clean, beautiful and modern religious-tourism city. As part of this initiative, several other important schemes have been launched or had their foundation stones laid in the Gaya district. These include LED and lighting work at the Vaishno Mata Temple (approx. ₹47.44 lakh), development work at the Suryakund Pond and Shiva Temple in Fatehpur (approx. ₹1.29 crore), and the construction of a world-class Meditation and Experience Centre in Bodh Gaya (approx. ₹165.44 crore). The Meditation and Experience Centre will feature a meditation hall, parking facilities, elevators, a cafeteria, exhibition areas, information systems, security arrangements and other modern amenities.
Dr. Prem Kumar affirmed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Samrat Chaudhary, Infrastructure is being rapidly expanded with the aim of establishing the historical and spiritual identity of Gaya and Bodh Gaya on the global stage. He expressed confidence that the completion of these projects would give a new identity to tourism in Gaya district, increase employment opportunities for local youth, boost business activity and provide citizens with the benefits of better urban amenities. He also appealed to the citizens to actively cooperate in preserving these public assets and maintaining cleanliness.
