Aurangabad. On Wednesday DDC Kumari Anupam Singh inaugurated the newly established Government Degree College on the premises of Pirwan High School in the block area by ceremonially lighting a lamp and cutting a ribbon.
For the time being, this Government Degree College of Madanpur will operate from the Pirwan High School campus. Joy and enthusiasm were evident among the people regarding the inauguration. The college premises were beautifully decorated resembling a bride creating a festive atmosphere. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, DDC Kumari Anupam Singh stated that students would no longer need to travel elsewhere to pursue a degree. She remarked that today marks a milestone for Madanpur from an educational perspective. She added that local students would not have to go to distant cities for undergraduate studies; the opening of a local degree college would save both time and money, allowing students to focus wholeheartedly on their studies.
The college’s acting principal, Dr. Amit Rahul, welcomed the guests by presenting them with traditional stoles (angavastram) and bouquets. He informed the gathering that 300 seats have currently been allocated to the college. In the initial phase, undergraduate courses will be offered in Hindi, History, Sociology, Political Science, Economics and English. Although eight students from distant areas had previously registered, they are now declining to attend; a list of 26 students has been prepared and the enrollment process for them is underway. Currently, there are only two faculty members, including the principal. The recruitment of additional teachers will be handled through the university, a process that is already in progress. The admission process will continue for the next 15 days and academic activities have already commenced.
Dignitaries present on the occasion included DRDA Director Anupam Kumar, Principal Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra, MLA representative Santosh Kumar Singh, BDO Dr. Avatulya Kumar Arya, CO Akbar Hussain, PO Yogendra Prasad Singh and Block Education Officer (in-charge) Sanjeev Kumar Singh among others.
