Dr. Sikandar Singh of Deoghar honored with the IMA National Community Service Award 2026 by Defence Minister.The event held at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi was more than just an award ceremony,it was a celebration of years of immense sacrifice, dedication and service qualities that defy simple description. When the Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh presented the prestigious Indian Medical Association (IMA) National Community Service Award 2026 to Dr. Sikandar Singh (MBBS, MD Medicine) on stage, the moment transcended the individual, becoming a symbol of the entire society’s gratitude.
Rooted in the soil of Santhal Pargana, Jharkhand, Dr. Sikandar Singh has spent the last 28 years quietly and without fanfare setting an example of public service that now stands as an inspiration to the nation. His journey, which began in 1998, is not merely the story of a doctor but that of a true servant one who sees the divine in every patient he treats.
The national honor bestowed upon him today bears witness to countless nights spent tirelessly serving patients; it tells the story of villages where he brought the light of health and it carries the blessings of the lives to which he restored hope.
Despite being a private practitioner, Dr. Singh made national programs such as NTEP (TB Elimination), NACP (HIV/AIDS Control) and NVBDCP (Vector-Borne Disease Control) his life’s mission. This was not just work; it was a solemn pledge and a responsibility that he fulfilled wholeheartedly.
