    Gayaji. Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar held a meeting with the District Magistrate and concerned officials at the Gaya District Collectorate to conduct a detailed review of various developmental and public-interest issues related to Gayaji and Bodh Gaya. He stated that strengthening infrastructure in keeping with Gaya’s historical, religious and international identity and ensuring the timely resolution of public grievances are priorities for the state government.
    During the meeting, Dr. Prem Kumar reviewed the progress of the Ganga water supply scheme covering approximately 34,000 households in the Gaya Municipal Corporation area and directed officials to ensure the supply reaches the remaining households promptly. He emphasized that providing clean drinking water to every family is the government’s highest priority.
    He also reviewed the progress of the sewerage system construction work along the Falgu River and stressed the need to complete it within the stipulated timeframe to make the river pollution-free and achieve the goal of a clean environment.
    Issues related to Gandhi Maidan were also discussed in detail during the meeting. He remarked that Gandhi Maidan is the city’s identity and must be kept clean, safe, and well-organized.
    Reviewing the progress of the Gaya-Bodh Gaya corridor project, the Gaya satellite township and the relocation of the Manpur bus stand, he directed the concerned departments to accelerate the work. He noted that the completion of these projects would provide new momentum to traffic management, tourism and urban development in the city.
    The meeting also reviewed the ongoing efforts to clear encroachments from lands belonging to maths (monasteries) and temples under the state government’s jurisdiction. He directed that illegal encroachments be removed effectively and in accordance with the rules, while ensuring the protection of land belonging to religious institutions.
    He placed special emphasis on providing better amenities to domestic and foreign tourists visiting Bodh Gaya.
    The drought situation in Gaya district was also reviewed during the meeting.
    Additionally, he emphasized the need to launch a massive tree plantation drive along NH-82, NH-83 and state highways. He stated that maximum numbers of saplings should be planted along the roadsides to aid environmental conservation.
    Dr. Prem Kumar affirmed that the state government is fully committed to the holistic development of Gaya-ji, focusing on cleanliness, environmental conservation, tourism promotion, and the expansion of public amenities. He expressed confidence that through the coordinated efforts of the administration and public representatives, Gaya would be developed into a clean, well-organized, modern, and world-class religious-tourism city.
