Patna. The Bihar Education Department has made biometric attendance compulsory for all officials and employees as part of a new initiative to improve workplace discipline and accountability. Under the new rules, employees must mark their attendance through the biometric system, and salary disbursal will now be linked to verified attendance records.
According to the department’s directive, employees are required to report to office by 9:30 a.m. Late arrivals, early departures, and unauthorised absence may invite disciplinary action. Staff have also been instructed to remain at their designated workstations during office hours, while department heads have been directed to conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance.
The move is aimed at enhancing transparency, improving punctuality, and ensuring better administrative efficiency across the department. The new attendance system has come into effect immediately.
