Patna/Samastipur. A series of violent clashes allegedly linked to rival liquor-smuggling gangs has left three people dead in Bihar’s Samastipur district over the past four days, raising fresh concerns over the persistence of the illegal liquor trade despite the state’s prohibition law.
According to police, the killings occurred in separate incidents and are believed to be connected to an ongoing turf war between groups involved in the illicit liquor business. Investigators are probing the possibility of gang rivalry as the primary motive, while raids have been launched to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The incidents have once again drawn attention to the challenges of enforcing prohibition in Bihar, where illegal liquor networks continue to operate despite the statewide ban. Police officials said all angles are being examined, and security has been tightened in the affected areas to prevent further violence.
