    New Delhi. India has officially declared today, July 13, 2026, as a day of national mourning following the passing of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

    During this period of national mourning, the Indian National Flag is being flown at half-mast on all public buildings across the country where it is regularly hoisted. As per official protocol, the flag is first raised to the top of the staff before being lowered to the half-mast position. All official government entertainment functions have also been suspended for the day. This respectful gesture reflects the deep bilateral ties between India and Qatar and honors the enduring legacy of the leader who shaped modern Qatar.
