Kolkata. E-commerce major Flipkart has announced that it will deepen its long-term investments in West Bengal by expanding its supply chain infrastructure, strengthening its seller ecosystem, and enhancing skill development initiatives across the state. The Walmart-owned company said West Bengal will remain a key pillar of its growth strategy, with its largest fulfilment and logistics centre located at Haringhata in Nadia district.
Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said the company’s investments in infrastructure, technology and supply chains are aimed at creating employment opportunities, supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), empowering farmers, and enabling entrepreneurs to access markets across India. He described West Bengal as an emerging hub for digital commerce and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the state’s long-term economic growth.
According to the company, more than 66,000 sellers from West Bengal are currently registered on the Flipkart marketplace. Nearly 29,000 products created by the state’s weavers and artisans are listed under the Flipkart Samarth programme, while over 250 Tant and Jamdani weavers from Shantipur collectively generate annual sales exceeding ₹100 crore through the platform.
Flipkart has also expanded its Flipkart Minutes quick-commerce service in the state with around 90 micro-fulfilment centres, creating nearly 10,000 employment opportunities. The Haringhata fulfilment centre, the company’s largest in India, supports more than 1.2 lakh direct and indirect jobs across warehousing, logistics and related operations.
