New Delhi. Delhi Police removed activist Sonam Wangchuk from his Jantar Mantar protest site and admitted him to Safdarjung Hospital. This happened on the 21st day of his hunger strike, which he started to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over NEET exam paper leaks.

Following a Delhi High Court order to monitor his health daily, police acted after doctors warned that Wangchuk had lost 9.5 kg and was severely dehydrated. Plainclothes officers moved him into an ambulance after a brief commotion with supporters. The hospital reported that Wangchuk is currently conscious, alert, and stable, though weak.

Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J. Angmo, strongly criticized the hospital transfer, saying the court’s order only required health check-ups and not forced admission. She has firmly stated that no medical procedures or treatments should take place without the family’s direct permission.
