•Cooperation Week Celebrations Inaugurated to Mark Five Years of the Ministry of Cooperation; Statewide Programmes to Continue Till July 6

Patna. Bihar will accelerate efforts to transform itself into a USD 1 trillion economy by 2047 through agriculture and the cooperative sector. To achieve this objective, the Bihar Cooperative Policy-2026 will soon be implemented, Cooperative Minister Ramkripal Yadav announced on Monday.
He was addressing the inaugural session of the Cooperation Week Celebration held at the Urja Auditorium in Shastri Nagar, Patna.
The programme was jointly organized by the Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL)New Delhi and the Bihar Department of Cooperation to commemorate the completion of five years of the Ministry of Cooperation under the Government of India.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the establishment of a separate Ministry of Cooperation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 6, 2021 has given a new direction to the cooperative movement across the country. Under the guidance of Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, the National Cooperative Policy-2025 has been implemented and Bihar is now preparing to introduce its own Cooperative Policy-2026 in line with the national framework.
He stated that Bihar’s youthful population is its greatest strength. Expanding the cooperative sector will generate large-scale employment opportunities in rural areas and help curb migration. According to him, cooperatives can play a crucial role in making every panchayat economically self-reliant.
The minister informed that model by-laws have been implemented in all 8,463 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across the state transforming them into Multipurpose PACS. The process of introducing model by-laws in Primary Vegetable Cooperative Societies across all blocks is also underway.
He further said that 13,370 Dairy Cooperative Societies have been established in Bihar so far. Under the Saat Nischay-3 programme, dairy cooperative societies will be formed in all 45,000 villages of the state over the next three years.
Cooperation Department Secretary Dharmendra Singh said that a series of programmes will be organized across all districts and blocks of Bihar until July 6 as part of the Cooperation Week celebrations. The objective is to strengthen PACS and grassroots cooperative institutions while expanding the cooperative movement to every village.
On the occasion BISCOMAAN Chairman Vishal Singh said that cooperative societies have received overwhelming public support over the past two years, indicating a bright future for the cooperative sector.
Among those present at the event were BBSSL Chairman Yogendra Kumar, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Rajnish Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Vegfed Dr. Gagan, Managing Director of the Bihar State Cooperative Bank Manoj Kumar Singh, PACS representatives, and a large number of stakeholders associated with the cooperative sector.
