Kolkata. Union Home Minister Amit Shah began his three-day visit to West Bengal on 17 July, during which he is scheduled to review border security, law and order, and governance-related issues with senior officials. The visit also includes a series of organisational meetings with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders as the party steps up preparations for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
According to the BJP’s schedule, Shah will hold discussions with state party functionaries, elected representatives and organisational leaders to assess the party’s strategy and strengthen its grassroots network. He is also expected to review security arrangements along the India-Bangladesh border and discuss development-related issues concerning the state.
The visit is being closely watched in political circles, as it comes ahead of the Assembly elections and is expected to shape the BJP’s organisational roadmap in West Bengal.
