Patna. The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday approved 30 proposals aimed at strengthening governance, streamlining regulations, and accelerating development across the state.
Among the key decisions, the Cabinet approved the Bihar Minerals (Concession, Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transportation and Storage) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026, a move intended to tighten oversight of mining activities and curb illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Bihar Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1994, aimed at improving and simplifying the state’s vehicle taxation framework. In another significant welfare measure, it decided to formulate a policy to provide compensation to the families of prisoners who die while in judicial custody.
Development projects for the districts of Khagaria, Sitamarhi, and Samastipur also received Cabinet approval, with the government stating that the initiatives are expected to boost infrastructure and public services in these regions.
The decisions are part of the Bihar government’s broader agenda to strengthen administrative reforms, improve public welfare, and support infrastructure-led development across the state.
