Patna. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Bihar, forecasting heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several parts of the state over the next two days as monsoon activity intensifies.
According to the IMD, districts in north and central Bihar are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, while wind speeds of up to 40 kmph may accompany thunderstorms in some areas. The department has advised residents to remain indoors during lightning, avoid open fields and water bodies, and follow weather advisories issued by local authorities.
The active monsoon is expected to bring much-needed relief from the prevailing heat and humid conditions, besides benefiting agricultural activities across the state. However, authorities have cautioned that intense rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions and localized flooding. Disaster management teams have been asked to remain on alert to respond to any emergency arising from adverse weather conditions.
