    Patna. The 37th Foundation Day of Navbihar Times—a publication that has carved a distinct niche for itself through journalism rooted in public interest and impartiality was celebrated in a grand and dignified atmosphere at the A.N. College auditorium. The event was graced by numerous distinguished personalities from the fields of politics, administration, education, the judiciary, medicine, literature, journalism and social service. Throughout the program, serious discussions were held regarding the role of journalism, the strengthening of democracy and the media’s responsibilities towards society.
    The event was inaugurated with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and inaugurator, Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar; Bihar Government’s Minister for Rural Development and Information & Public Relations, Shravan Kumar; and the Deputy Leader of the LJP legislative party, Dr. Prakash Chandra. Subsequently, the guests were welcomed with traditional stoles (angavastras), bouquets and mementos.
    Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar stated that independent and responsible journalism is the greatest strength of any democratic system. He remarked that the media is not merely a medium for information but an effective tool for raising social awareness, upholding democratic values and establishing a dialogue between the government and the public. He emphasized that journalists should accord the highest priority to impartiality, truth and social responsibility.
    Dr. Kumar noted that while numerous channels of information are available today, the need for credible journalism has grown more than ever. In such times, newspapers like Navbihar Times have maintained a distinct identity due to their credibility and commitment to public interest issues. Extending his best wishes to the entire newspaper team on the occasion of their Foundation Day, he expressed hope for the publication’s bright future.

    Rural Development and Information & Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar stated that regional newspapers play a vital role in strengthening the roots of democracy. He observed that local and regional media are most effective in conveying the issues faced by villages, farmers, the poor and the common people to the government. He stated that the media has consistently played the role of conveying information about the government’s development schemes to the general public while also bringing their grievances to the government’s attention.
    He remarked that Navbihar Times has served as a strong bridge between society and the government for over three decades. The newspaper has carved a distinct identity for itself by consistently raising issues of public interest. He emphasized that democracy is strengthened only when the media remains independent, impartial, and pro-people.
    Welcoming the guests and dignitaries, Navbihar Times Editor Kamal Kishore stated that the newspaper has always prioritized the voice of society throughout its 37-year journey. He noted that the publication has earned the trust of the common people by prominently highlighting issues related to rural areas, farmers, youth, women, education, health and development. He acknowledged that while journalism faces numerous challenges in these changing times, Navbihar Times will continue to operate based on its core values of impartiality, credibility and public interest.

    During the ceremony, several distinguished individuals were honored for their remarkable contributions to fields such as journalism, education, medicine, administration, literature, social service, industry and sports. The guests appreciated the honorees’ contributions by presenting them with certificates of appreciation, mementos and traditional shawls (angavastras).
    Hundreds of prominent figures attended the event, including Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra (Principal, Sachchidanand Sinha College), Pramod Chandravanshi (State President, BJP OBC Morcha), Vinod Kumar (Regional Manager, LIC), Vishwanath Chandan (Deputy General Manager, NTPC) and Shriram Ambasht (Editor, Sonvarsha Vani).
    Artists from Mumbai, Kolkata and Patna, led by the ‘Dev and Friends’ musical group, captivated the audience with their cultural performances. The event was anchored by Shankar Kaimuri.
    On this occasion, Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar and Minister for Rural Development and Information & Public Relations Shravan Kumar honored individuals and organizations for their distinguished contributions across various fields.
    The honorees included Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra, Suresh Kumar Gupta, Girija Satish, Anand Ranjan Jha, Surendra Shrestha, Dr. Ajay Prakash, Dr. Ata Rizvi, Dr. Sajan Dubey, Nitesh Kumar, Nutan Pandey, Abhishek Kumar and Amit Patel as well as the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), NTPC Limited and Vastu Vihar. They were presented with momentos, traditional shawls (ang-vastra) and certificates of appreciation.
