New Delhi. Heavy monsoon rains continued to affect several parts of India on Thursday, causing waterlogging, traffic congestion, and disruptions to daily life while highlighting persistent gaps in urban infrastructure.
Delhi-NCR remained among the worst-hit regions, with flooded roads, submerged residential areas, and long traffic jams following intense rainfall. In Gujarat, Surat continued to grapple with flood-like conditions, with waterlogging disrupting normal life and authorities closely monitoring affected areas.
Mumbai witnessed some relief after days of heavy rain, with public transport operating normally despite forecasts of isolated heavy showers. Rain also affected cities such as Nagpur and Guwahati, where waterlogged roads slowed traffic and inconvenienced commuters.
The monsoon has disrupted the livelihoods of daily wage workers, street vendors, and commuters, while recurring flooding has once again raised concerns over the condition of drainage systems and the preparedness of civic authorities to handle seasonal downpours.
