Ajmer (Rajasthan). Notorious Chambal dacoit Jagan Gurjar was allegedly murdered inside the high-security jail in Ajmer, Rajasthan, triggering a major security controversy. According to police, Gurjar was found dead inside his barrack, and initial investigations indicate he was strangled by his cellmate following an altercation. The accused inmate has reportedly confessed to the crime, though investigators are continuing to examine all possible angles.
The incident has raised serious concerns over security arrangements inside the prison. Meanwhile, Gurjar’s family has alleged that jail officials and police personnel were involved in a larger conspiracy, claiming the murder was planned and later presented as a suicide. The allegations are under investigation, and the Rajasthan High Court has sought a detailed report from the state government and prison authorities regarding the killing and prison security lapses.
