Gayaji. An important meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) East District Art and Culture Cell was held at the Gayaji District Guest House auditorium. Dr. Prem Kumar, Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Convener Ashok Gupta presided over the event. The meeting featured detailed discussions on the preservation and promotion of art, culture, folk traditions and ancient heritage, as well as ways to connect the new generation with them.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Prem Kumar stated that Indian culture is the world’s oldest and most unique cultural heritage. A nation’s identity is defined not merely by its geographical boundaries but by its culture, traditions, values, customs and heritage. He remarked that Bihar serves as the cultural axis of India, with Gaya-ji acting as a vital center of its glorious identity.
He noted that the land of Gaya-ji is rich in craftsmanship, religious faith and ancient heritage, with its historic legacy remaining vibrant to this day. The urn containing the ashes of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, is also preserved here. Rare religious artifacts, such as the idol of Lord Ganesha carved from coral and the Spatik (crystal) Shivling, stand as symbols of Gaya’s cultural richness. The लrecent awarding of the GI (Geographical Indication) tag to Gaya’s craftsmanship is a matter of pride for the entire district and state.
Dr. Prem Kumar emphasized that the preservation of art and culture cannot be achieved through government efforts alone; active societal participation is essential. He called for organized efforts to pass on Bihar’s folk culture, folk art, folk music, dance, performing arts and craftsmanship to the new generation.
He urged the workers of the BJP’s Art and Culture Cell to widely promote Gaya’s glorious cultural and mythological heritage and to launch public awareness campaigns connecting every segment of society—especially the youth—with Indian culture, folk traditions and cultural values. This will safeguard our cultural heritage and enable future generations to take pride in their civilization and culture.
Others present on the occasion included Munnilal, Vikas Kumar, Karuna Singh, Sudhir Sharma, Rishabh Raj, Shambhu Prasad, Ranjan Yadav, Sumit Gupta and Sachin Thakur.
