Patna. During the third session of the 18th Bihar Legislative Assembly, the Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar appealed to the Members to join the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save the Farm Campaign) launched by the Prime Minister on June 1, 2026 following the statement made by the Agriculture Minister, Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha. The Minister’s statement was in response to a ‘Calling Attention Motion’ moved by the Member Shri Kumar Sarvjeet regarding the resolve to adopt organic farming. The Speaker also urged the members to contribute to the State Government’s efforts to promote organic and natural farming.
Regarding the ‘Calling Attention Motion’ submitted by Shri Manjeet Kumar Singh, Shri Madhav Anand and 13 other members concerning the payment of outstanding dues to sugarcane farmers and employees of the closed Sasamusa Sugar Mill in Gopalganj and the reopening of the mill, the Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar issued a directive to the Minister for Sugarcane Industries, Shri Sanjay Kumar. He instructed the Minister to convene a meeting within one week with the concerned Members and officials to address, point-by-point, all the issues raised during the discussion on the motion.
