Guwahati. Suspended Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Nupur Bora, who is already facing a disproportionate assets case, has been re-arrested by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell in connection with an alleged land fraud case.
According to vigilance officials, the fresh action follows an FIR alleging that Bora, while serving as Circle Officer in Barpeta and Kamrup districts, approved hundreds of land mutation orders in violation of established rules and procedures. Investigators claim that several land records were altered illegally, causing significant irregularities in revenue administration.
The vigilance team has reportedly identified more than 500 mutation orders suspected to contain anomalies and has written to the respective district administrations to cancel the disputed orders. Searches conducted during the investigation led to the seizure of land-related documents and other evidence.
Bora was earlier arrested in a disproportionate assets case after vigilance raids allegedly recovered large amounts of cash, jewellery and documents from properties linked to her. The investigations into both cases are ongoing, and authorities have indicated that further legal action will depend on the findings of the probe.
