Puri (Odisha). Preparations for the world-famous Jagannath Rath Yatra are gathering pace as the Odisha government and temple administration intensify efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual festival, scheduled for 16 July. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to chair a high-level review meeting on 6 July to assess arrangements related to security, crowd management, sanitation, traffic regulation, and emergency services.
Authorities have deployed multiple departments to oversee preparations, while police are strengthening security measures with enhanced surveillance, traffic diversions, and specialized crowd-control plans. The administration has also focused on medical facilities, drinking water, and sanitation to accommodate the lakhs of devotees expected to visit the holy town during the nine-day festival.
Meanwhile, the annual Anasara ritual is underway following the Snana Purnima ceremony, during which the deities remain out of public view for 15 days before reappearing for the grand Rath Yatra procession.
