Kolkata. Tension erupted during a protest march led by Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Wednesday after unidentified persons allegedly threw eggs at the rally and raised “chor, chor” slogans. The march, organised by the Trinamool Congress to protest the alleged rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Baruipur, continued under heavy police security despite the brief disruption.
The rally, which followed a modified route approved by the Calcutta High Court, concluded without any reported injuries. The incident has further intensified the political atmosphere in West Bengal, with the TMC accusing its rivals of attempting to disrupt the demonstration, while the opposition denied the allegations.
