    Aurangabad. In accordance with a significant decision by the Government of Bihar and under the directives of District Magistrate Smt. Abhilasha Sharma, the sanitation work at the District Hospital, Aurangabad, was initiatedby ‘Jivika Didis. The state government has decided to entrust the responsibility of sanitation in district and sub-divisional hospitals to Jivika Didis. The objective of this initiative is to create sustainable employment opportunities for rural women, increase their income and provide fresh momentum to women’s empowerment.
    At a program organized within the District Hospital premises, the new arrangement was inaugurated through a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mr. Anwar Alam (District Program Manager, Health Department), Mr. Pawan Kumar (District Project Manager, Jivika) and Smt. Mamta Devi (President, Jagriti Jivika Mahila Sankul Stariya Sangh, Batwa).
    Also present on the occasion were Jivika Managers Mr. Rananjay Rai (Training), Mr. Md. Anwar Hussain (Communication), and Mr. Shravan Kumar (Health & Nutrition), Mr. Prafullakant Nirala, Mr. Shrutikant Pathak (District Hospital Manager), the Block Project Manager (Jivika, Aurangabad Sadar) and various other officials and staff members from both the Health Department and Jivika.
    Addressing the gathering, Mr. Pawan Kumar, District Project Manager (Jivika), stated that Jivika’s objective is to make women economically self-reliant. Entrusting them with a crucial responsibility like hospital sanitation will boost their income and create new employment avenues. He expressed confidence that the Jivika Didis would discharge this duty successfully with efficiency, discipline and dedication.
    Smt. Mamta Devi, President of the Jagriti Jivika Mahila Sankul Stariya Sangh, Batwa, remarked that this is an occasion of pride and happiness for the Jivika Didis. She stated that this initiative would provide employment to a large number of ‘Jeevika Didis,’ thereby strengthening their economic status. She expressed her gratitude to the Government of Bihar and the Health Department for this.
