Kolkata. The West Bengal government has announced that its newly enacted anti-gang law, along with amendments to the state’s property auction legislation, will come into force on July 13, 2026. The move is aimed at strengthening the legal framework to combat organised crime and improve the recovery of damages caused by criminal activities.
According to the state government, the legislation will empower authorities to take stricter action against organised criminal networks while enabling the attachment and auction of properties linked to offenders, in accordance with legal provisions. The government said the new measures are intended to enhance public safety and reinforce law enforcement across the state.
