Patna. On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar urged the youth to develop new skills aligned with the needs of changing times. He stated that skill development is the most effective means of making the youth self-reliant while also expanding employment opportunities. Dr. Prem Kumar noted that World Youth Skills Day is observed to raise awareness among the youth about skill development and to connect them with employment-oriented training. He emphasized that skill development plays a crucial role in effectively addressing unemployment, inequality, and economic challenges. He added that in a youth-dominated country like India, initiatives such as the Skill India Mission, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and the National Apprenticeship Program are making significant contributions toward providing job-oriented training and enhancing the capabilities of the youth. Dr. Prem Kumar mentioned that World Youth Skills Day was initiated by the United Nations in 2014. The day also aims to equip the youth with technical and vocational skills and familiarize them with new technologies suited to the evolving digital landscape. He stated that in today’s era, it has become essential for the youth to develop skills in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics and green technology. By acquiring proficiency in these areas, the youth can not only create better employment opportunities for themselves but also contribute significantly to the country’s economic and technological development.
